Очень удачная модель. Остаточного изображения не наблюдаю (при том, что на другие модели, в т.ч. на LG 34WK95U, часты такие жалобы). Битых пикселей нет. Небольшой засвет в нижнем левом углу на моем экземпляре — очень слабо выражен. Цвета хорошие. Звук басовитый и глуховатый, но все равно существенно лучше, чем на ноуте, зато колонки не нужно покупать. Управление через джойстик не самое удобное, но и далеко не бестолковое. Яркостью в любом случае проще управлять с помощью f.lux через Alt+PgUp\PgDn с клавиатуры. После 4k-монитора боялся, что разрешения по высоте не хватит, но вполне терпимо. Очень удобно работать с двумя окнами параллельно, в принципе можно и с тремя. Для тайлинга окон использовать Win+лево\право, на три части — через Powertoys FancyZones или DisplayFusion. USB-C заряжает ноут (ЕМНИП выдает 60 Вт). Итого подключил одним кабелем, и всё, никаких доков не нужно.
В целом впечатление хорошее, но при текущей цене — 50+ т.р. не рекомендовал бы к покупке, т.к. есть недостатки. Сам брал исходя из того, что работаю за монитором большую часть жизни и хотелось что-то получше TN, желательно с usb-c. Заменяет мне два монитора, по ощущениям глаза не так сильно устают, как за TN 5ти летней давности. Возможно подойдет дизайнерам/фотографам, т.к. заявлен увеличенный цветовой охват — 135% sRGB и калибровка с завода. Но эти моменты на глаз оценить не могу. Замечание по usb-c — монитор нормально работает на полном разрешении и частоте 60гц. Но изначально на моем ноутбуке заводился только на 30. Помогло обновление Intel Management Engine Firmware, причем это какая-то аппаратная прошивка, по всей видимости, т.к. обновлял я ее из windows, а пофиксилось и в windows и в ubuntu. Кстати про hdr — все, что ниже hdr 600 — в принципе на глаз вообще не видно. Да, показывает яркую картинку, но контрастность хорошая будет только на мониторах с точечным управлением подсветкой, а этого здесь нет.

Долгое время пользовался 27 дюймовым 2к-монитором (2560х1440). Но однажды увидав 21:9 в играх, просто не смог нормально воспринимать стандартные 16:9. В Ведьмаке, WoW, LoL, да в любую игру, где поддерживается 21:9 просто в удовольствие играть, появился бОльший эффект погружения в игру. Картинка у данного монитора сочная, если у вас nvidia не забудьте включить полный динамический диапазон и выставить 10 бит. Так же, чтобы были 75 гц, надо в меню самого монитора включить freesync. Работает в паре с видеокартой Nvidia RTX 2070 super, в Ведьмаке 3 даже с hairworks тянет 60+ на ультра, но бывают небольшие «подфризики» в городах. При отключенном hairworks, стабильно 60+ на ультрах. Монитор рекомендую.

Adjusting display settings
All display settings are controlled via the clickable four-way joystick nub on the bottom-center area of the display. LG’s OSD is relatively intuitive and easy to use. Moving around the on-screen interface is performed with the four-way joystick, while a click of the joystick confirms your selections.
You can quickly adjust speaker volume by clicking left or right on the joystick. Clicking forward on the joystick while volume controls are displayed toggles mute. Like most displays with built-in speakers, the 34WK95U’s dual 5W speakers are just okay enough to get by, but you’ll definitely want to opt for headphones or a dedicated standalone speaker option.
Clicking in on the joystick brings up the quick menu, which allows you to jump directly to key areas, such as input, picture mode, settings, and power off.
Selecting settings brings up the full swath of monitor preferences, which include things like local dimming, auto brightness, PBP, DisplayPort version, and more.
9to5Mac’s Take
Unfortunately, as mentioned at the outset, there looks to be known compatibility issues with the 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro, which I’ve heard that LG is working on addressing. I don’t own a 2018 MacBook Pro, so I haven’t been able to see these issues for myself. All of my other Macs — a 2017 MacBook Pro, 2017 iMac Pro, 2018 MacBook Air, and 2018 Mac mini — all play nice with the LG UltraWide when connecting via Thunderbolt 3 with DisplayPort 1.2 enabled.
If you regularly work on content that benefits from a wide display area, and you currently use a monitor with 4K resolution or below, then the LG UltraWide 34WK95U is a significant workspace upgrade. Having the extra horizontal real estate can go a long way towards improving your productivity, and the overall feeling of working in apps like Final Cut Pro X, Premiere Pro, and Logic Pro X is enhanced.
Coming from a 4K display, the 34WK95U is an upgrade
This display really shows its utility when connected to a Thunderbolt 3-enabled Mac, particularly a MacBook Pro or MacBook Air, as it can charge those machines along with working as a primary or secondary display. It’s not so useful when connected to HDMI sources, but DisplayPort is an okay secondary option that yields full resolution output if need be.
Thunderbolt 3 is the preferred connectivity method
It’s annoying that third-party display makers continue to produce products that are comprised mostly of plastic, especially at this price, but until consumers vote with their wallets, I don’t see this trend changing.
Almost everything…is plastic
With its 21:9 aspect ratio, the LG UltraWide 34WK95U is for people who work with content that’s enhanced by a wider field of view. If that’s not you, you’d be better off sticking with a display with a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio.
But if you’re a creative professional who knows what you’re getting yourself into, this display is a significant real estate upgrade from 4K. Just make sure you understand that this is really a 4.5K display, and it doesn’t offer any resolution advantages over a true 5K display like the one found in the 5K iMac or iMac Pro.
As long as you know this monitor’s practical limitations, and can take advantage of its strengths, it’s a worthwhile investment that can enhance your productivity if properly wielded.

Image Quality
There are numerous reports of people getting faulty units of the monitor which suffer from image burn-in or image retention. Not all units are affected by this, but if you decide to buy the LG 34WK95U or the LG 34BK95U, make sure the retailer has a good return policy.
LG has dubbed the 5120×2160 screen resolution as ‘5K2K’ though you may see people referring to it as 4K ultrawide, 5K ultrawide, or 2160p ultrawide as well.
Such high resolution on a 34″ screen of the LG 34WK95U results in a pixel density of 163 pixels per inch, which is equivalent to 4K UHD on a 27″ display.
The monitor is based on LG’s nano IPS panel, which boasts 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space (135% sRGB) for stunning color quality and accuracy.
Other panel-related specs are similar to the previous-generation IPS technology and include a 450-nit peak brightness, a 1,200:1 static contrast ratio, dithered 10-bit color depth (8-bit + FRC), and 178-degree viewing angles.
In addition, the LG 34WK95U supports HDR, which will provide you with a boost in maximum luminance to 600-nits for compatible content.
Although the monitor lacks proper local dimming for the optimal HDR viewing experience, you still get a notable improvement over the standard image quality. In fact, the LG 34WK95U ultrawide monitor has VESA’s DisplayHDR 600 certification.
Stand and ergonomics
The LG 34WK95U-W comes with a two-piece base and stand, and is quick to assemble without any tools. The stand has vertical height adjustment of 110mm and tilts 5 degrees forward and 15 degrees rearward. In daily use, the stand is quite sturdy and doesn’t tend to wobble, however the screen could be a little more firmly fixed in place when pushing on its corners.
For wall and bracket-mounting, there’s a VESA Standard Mount Interface with 100 x 100mm screw placement.
Sound-wise, there are two 5 watt speakers positioned along the bottom edge. These are not particularly loud or dynamic, however, they’re OK for general audio. Also worth noting is that MacOS software volume control is not supported so you’ll need to toggle the little hardware joystick to adjust volume. For headphones, a jack is included but you’ll need to run your cable around to the back of the display.

Build quality
It should come as no surprise that LG’s display is inferior to the build quality of the discontinued Apple Thunderbolt Display, and the 5K iMac. As is the case with nearly all third-party displays, the unit is comprised primarily of plastic.
The base is metal, but the arm and everything else is plastic
Even the arm that holds the display on the stand is made out of plastic that’s painted to look as if its metal. The only metal component contained in the package is the base stand, which needs the weight that metal provides to prevent it from toppling over.
I wish display makers put more effort into fleshing out build quality, but it’s hard to knock LG for making a plastic monitor when nearly everyone else is doing it.
It’s mostly plastic, albeit high quality plastic
Like most displays that can be raised, the LG display gets more wobbly the higher you go. For the best stability, you’ll want to keep the display as close to its base as possible. At its highest, mere keyboard strokes can cause the display to move subtly, but this phenomenon is mostly eliminated at lower heights.
I appreciate the tiny bezels of the LG 5K2K UltraWide, which really make the wide-screen display pop. The unit employs a design that’s similar to the edge to edge glass design found on the MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, the design on the LG34WK95U isn’t as clean, as you can see where the bezel areas meet in the corners of the display. It’s a small detail that you really have to look for, but I have to be honest and say it looks low-budget.

Unboxing and set up
Set up can be accomplished in just a few short minutes thanks to the quick-attach mount plate on the rear of the display. Simply connect the stand to the arm via its built-in thumb screw, and lock the arm into place using the quick mount plate.
LG supplies a white 2-meter-long Thunderbolt 3 cable that’s used to connect the display to your Mac of choice. The obvious candidates — MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini — all work well, but it can also connect to the iMac or iMac Pro via Thunderbolt 3.
The power cable for the display, is just that — a cable. In other words, there’s no obnoxious power brick to contend with. And the cable is long enough to accommodate most reasonable setup scenarios.
The 34WK95U rests atop a metal stand that features a curved design, but the display itself is flat. For a pro-oriented product, I’m happy that LG stuck with a flat panel, as curved screens introduce subtle amounts of distortion.
Display and Performance
The LG 34WK95U boasts a 34-inch Nano IPS panel with a whopping 5120 x 2160 5K2K resolution. The minimum response time is specified at 5ms, while contrast is extended to 1200:1. The biggest selling point of this display is its Apple Retina-like properties which are renowned for its crispness and clarity.
It’s immediately noticeable that the LG 34WK95U’s is considerably sharper than most that we have encountered. QHD 34-inch monitors look excellent for gaming, but 5120 x 2160 squeezed into this size is on a different level. This makes the monitor perfect for editing work, but gamers might dislike the heavy GPU power requirements.
Color fidelity is impressive as well for the LG 34WK95U making it ideal for use out of the box. The Nano IPS panel produces 100% sRGB with a DeltaE of only 2.11 in sRGB mode. Slight tweaking is still necessary if the screen is a bit warm, but calibrating with a colorimeter will create a perfect setting with a DE of only .40.
The monitor’s HDR mode increases its gamut to 85% DCI-P3 which is higher than most, but it falls short of the manufacturer’s specifications. The backlight is also ill-equipped to handle this rigorous standard since it maxes out at 450 cd/m2 which doesn’t reach the VESA DisplayHDR 600 parameters.
Contrast for the monitor almost reaches the specification at 1190:1 which is excellent for typical use, but slightly lacking for HDR. Shades and blacks are satisfying, save for when viewing the screen in well-lit environments. The monitor’s basic local dimming feature doesn’t help in this regard due to the limited functionality of edge-lit solutions.
Panel uniformity for the LG 34WK95U test unit is above average at best, since there is some clouding visible when viewing a dark screen. The corners appear darker in tests, although normal usage scenarios will be unaffected. Colors and brightness across the quadrants look even and continuous despite the minor deviances.
We also found it weird that the LG 34WK95U isn’t flicker-free, despite today’s industry standards. The flaw isn’t noticeable even when you minimize the backlight, but it its there. Sensitive users could suffer from nausea or headaches without warning, but the majority of users will be unaffected.
The bad news for gamers is that the LG 34WK95U is a limited refresh rate monitor since its locked to 60Hz. That’s understandable since a resolution like this would require multiple top-end GPUs to power decently beyond 60Hz. At least, the Nano IPS panel’s pixel response time is quite agile when Overdrive is set to “Fast”.
The LG 34WK95U doesn’t include VRR tech such as FreeSync or G-Sync which is ironic since the resolution could use one. Input lag is beyond what we expected at 9ms which is within competitive gaming standards. This would be one hell of a gaming display if it had the requisite features such as FreeSync or a higher refresh rate.
Features
In the OSD (On-Screen Display), you will find plenty of features and settings, including the advanced 6-axis and gamma (four profiles) adjustments.
The monitor has dedicated picture presets for both HDR and SDR viewing modes (Custom, Vivid, and Cinema) as well as the HDR Effect feature, which simulates HDR for non-compatible content.
Other picture presets include, sRGB, DCI-P3, EBU, Rec. 709, SMPTE-C, Color Weakness, and two custom Calibration profiles.
You also get the On-Screen Control software, which allows you to adjust most of the OSD-related settings in a desktop app rather than on the menu.

One of the first things that hits you with the LG UltraFine 34 inch is the incredible depth of color on the screen.
The display supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) which, like Dolby Vision, makes bright and dark parts of an image incredibly intense and contrasted.
The LG UltraFine 34 inch 5K monitor is VESA Certified to HDR 600 which delivers peak luminance of 600 nits.
Not even the impressive Apple Studio Display supports HDR so this is a real bonus for a monitor in this price range.
The Nano refers to the Nano IPS which also controls colors with 98% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space which is the industry standard for the film industry making this a great external monitor for video editing on any Mac.

It supports 1.07 billion colors and the Nanometer-sized particles on the screen’s LED is designed to absorbs excess light for richer color expression.
The LG UltraFine 34 inch 5K monitor can display up to 163 Pixels Per Inch (PPI) which isn’t quite as much as the 218 PPI in the M1 MacBook Pro Retina display but still makes text and images look razor sharp.
The 34 inch screen is generous and provides plenty of space for multi-tasking, especially at full 5K.
Because it’s a 34 inch 5K screen you get over 30% more screen estate on the LG34BK95U-W UltraFine than on a standard 4K monitor.
This makes it a great choice for video editing with a Mac as editors for example can have video assets open on a 5:9 area while also editing or watching a 16:9 4K video on the same screen.
The monitor’s 5K2K 21:9 display supports full 5120 x 2160 resolution which is ideal for video editing and graphic design on a Mac although for text editing this can make the text look rather small and you might need to scale down the resolution to prevent squinting.
You can change the tilt 15 degrees forward and -5 degrees backwards and height up to 110mm on the aluminum stand that comes with the LG34BK95U-W UltraFine.
There’s a little bit of wiggle room to tilt left and right but if you need swivel though, you’ll have to add a VESA stand mount connection (the monitor is 100 x 100 VESA compatible).
The build quality on the LG UltraFine 34 inch 5K is sufficient but uses plastic throughout (except the foot of the stand) which means it does feel a bit “wobbly” on the stand if nudged or bumped.
The thin border design looks great though and means your picture stretches close to the edges of the monitor.
There’s also a useful plastic strap to keep cables tidy although if you’re connected via Thunderbolt cable, there’s only one cable to worry about.
There’s a small four way joystick on the bottom of the LG UltraFine 34 inch 5K2K monitor which is used to control everything from sound and brightness to input source and contrast.
There’s also a pair of 5 watt speakers on the left and right on the bottom of the monitor but the sound quality isn’t great and we recommend connecting external speakers to the LG UltraFine 34 inch 5K monitor.
Stand adjustments
One of the most important attributes of any good display is adjustability; the more adjustments that the user can make, the better. The 34WK95U isn’t the most versatile display when it comes to adjustments, but it has enough to make most users happy.
The arm pivots up and down to change viewing height, up to 110 mm, and there’s also -5~15 degrees of tilt. There’s no rotation for the display, which would be nearly impossible anyway given its wide-screen form factor, but there are a few degrees of play to make sure that the display is aligned parallel to its resting surface.
For those not satisfied with the stand’s adjustment ability, the 34WK95U includes VESA mounting holes behind the stand panel for mounting on a third-party monitor arm, stand, or wall mount.
