1MORE True Wireless – наушники строгие и во многом классические. От других со стороны их отличает разве что узор и кейс.

Форма овальная и продолговатая, направленная на 45 градусов вниз в сторону рта. Корпус пластиковый, глянцевый, но с узором под «карбон», который прячет следы использования.

С внутренней стороны расположены три контакта для зарядки в кейсе.

Внутриушная часть состоит из двух слоёв вкладышей. Внутренняя часть – со плотной стабилизирующей дужкой, фиксирует положение и всю конструкцию. А внешняя – силиконовый вкладыш, вставляющийся в ушной канал. Снимайте обе насадки осторожнее, можно ненароком повредить, если дёрнуть.

На торце корпуса, под красной металлической сеткой стоят направленные микрофоны, продублированные ещё одними, но уже с наружной части. Они отвечают как за снятие речи, так и за регулировку работы режима активного шумоподавления.

Одиночные физические кнопки на задней части корпуса отвечают за управление воспроизведением и активацию голосового помощника смартфона. Двойные нажатия регулируют громкость, а переключение треков… его нет. Только со смартфона.

Кейс стильный. В отличие от абсолютного большинства таких наушников, здесь он сделан из металла – алюминия, анодированного в чёрный цвет. На нижней части прилеплена прорезиненная нескользящая панель.

Очевидно, что идею и форму в целом компания подсмотрела в AirPods, вплоть до местоположения внешнего светодиода и выемки для удобного открытия крышки. И правильно сделали, потому что лучше того кейса ещё ничего не придумали.

Раз уж вспоминаем AirPods, то самое время отметить размер: высота кейса 1MORE True Wireless в полтора раза меньше, а ширина в два раза больше. Такая вот металлическая «пилюля» получилась. В кармане носить всё равно удобно, не мешает.

Наушники вставляются внутрь вообще без усилий и сами фиксируются со щелчком благодаря направляющим магнитам. Пальцем в кейсе елозить не придётся, стыковка быстрая и беспроблемная.

А между выемками для наушников стоит утопленная физическая кнопка для активации режима спряжения Bluetooth. Краткое нажатие позволяет понять уровень зарядки кейса по внешнему светодиоду, а долгое нажатие – запустить спряжение.

Для зарядки предусмотрен порт USB-C. Беспроводная тоже поддерживается: катушка установлена на дно кейса.

Durability

The NeoBuds S are pretty much dust-proof with their IP54 rating. They’re also highly water-resistant and sweat-proof, which makes them great for sports and other sweaty activities. They also stay in place remarkably well, as I found out during a rainy cross-country run.

The shells of the buds are plastic, which might worry some users, but to be honest, this is what’s keeping them super light. There are no moving parts or real weak points to worry about, though, and this plastic is durable and long-lasting.

The case is a little more of a concern…

While it has a metallic panel on top, the body is made of plastic. Again this is no problem, and it’s coated in a smooth texture that keeps off fingerprints. But the hinge doesn’t feel that durable, even from the start. I’d take care with this to make sure it lasts as long as it should.

However, the little drawstring pouch for carrying around the charging case is perfect. You might prefer a zippered case or a harder one, but for me, this really does the trick. The inside cloth layer is a bit grippy to prevent slipping. And the drawstring cord stays closed, so you don’t even have to knot it for security. It’s simple, but exactly what I need.

Автономная работа не очень долгая в режиме ANC, всего 4 часа. Без него получится 5 часов. Естественно, это касается не просто ношения, а именно режима прослушивания музыки.

Кейс даёт ещё примерно 4 полных зарядки, и вместе с ним получается 22 часа автономной работы.

По моим впечатлениям, официальные цифры соответствуют реальности. Но хотелось бы хотя бы на час побольше.

Если поместить разряженные наушники в кейс, то уже через 15 минут они будут готовы играть ещё 2 часа. Вот это быстрая подзарядка до почти 50% аккумулятора, ничего не скажешь.

В наушниках есть поддержка технологии Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus, позволяющая подключаться наушникам напрямую к смартфону, а не последовательно, от наушника к наушнику. Для её работы необходим девайс Android с процессором не ниже Snapdragon 855. На айфоне это работать не будет.

За неделю использования со стандартной схемой подключения у меня не было разрывов или рассинхронизаций, но если будут – обновлю текст.

Особенности

Среди отличительных черт подобных устройств можно выделить следующие:

• Мобильность. Если во время использования проводных моделей человек вынужден считаться с некоторыми ограничениями в плане движений, то теперь пользователь абсолютно свободен в этом плане, поскольку сковывающие движения провода просто напросто отсутствуют в конструкции.
• Высокий уровень совместимости. Беспроводные наушники хороши тем, что, как правило, имеют возможность подключения с гаджетами, обладающими операционной системой Android или iOS. Также синхронизация может осуществляться не только с портативными видами гаджетов, но и со стационарным ПК или телевизионным устройством.
• Автономная работа. Многие беспокоятся о том, что, приобретая беспроводные наушники, они подписываются на постоянную их зарядку. Однако это не так. Большинство современных моделей либо обладают качественным встроенным аккумулятором с высоким уровнем ёмкости, либо идут в комплекте с транспортировочным кейсом, в функции которого входит подзарядка. Это позволяет устройству функционировать в автономном режиме о нескольких часов до нескольких недель.

Hybrid Driver Technology: Explanation

The goal of hybrid headphones is to create sound with the bestqualities of dynamic and balanced armature drivers. The term “hybrid” was created as an example to describe this technology, which combines two different types or technologies to produce great sound. The balanced armature speaker is commonly found in higher end headphones and is known for its durability and exceptional sound quality.

Should You Buy the Edifier NeoBuds S?

The Edifier NeoBuds S currently retail for $179.99.

It’s difficult to fully articulate whether you should pick these earbuds up, as, without access to a device supporting Snapdragon Sound, there was no way to test one of the NeoBuds S most important features. Assuming it works well and that Snapdragon Sound will feature on more devices, and more devices that will launch in the US, then yes, it’s great.

On the other hand, if it doesn’t, well, you know the rest.

The NeoBuds S isn’t without positives, though. The sound quality delivered using the other Bluetooth codecs is good, and you can trust that aptX Adaptive and regular aptX are perfectly decent alternatives. They’re also comfortable to wear for long periods, come with numerous ear tip options, and the Edifier Connect app adds a heap of functionality. The NeoBuds S ANC is also well worth mentioning.

How does Snapdragon Sound work on the Edifier NeoBuds S?

The big news here is that Edifier has chosen to build the NeoBuds S with Snapdragon Sound, Qualcomm’s new hi-res streaming format that promises 24-bit/96 kHz sound and is designed to compete with Sony’s LDAC protocol. Unfortunately for U.S. customers, support for Snapdragon is so far almost exclusive to Xiaomi, a Chinese company whose phones are not sold through U.S. carriers.

If you’re an American customer looking at the NeoBuds S, the important news is that they support the AAC, SBC, and Qualcomm aptX codecs, along with limited support for the aptX HD protocol. Neither Samsung nor the Google Pixel support aptX HD, so those phones are limited to regular aptX. As always, all iPhones are limited to AAC.

Edifier NeoBuds S Snapdragon Sound and Connectivity

I normally combine the battery and connectivity section, but the Edifier NeoBuds S gets a special solo connectivity mention for its use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound.

The inclusion of Snapdragon Sound on its own is interesting. Unfortunately, Qualcomm’s high-res 24-bit/96 kHz streaming format isn’t actually available on many smartphones at the time of review, featuring predominantly on Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, Vivo, and Nubia. That means I haven’t had the chance to review the NeoBuds S Snapdragon Sound feature. Many of those smartphone brands aren’t available to the US market anyway, making it a somewhat niche feature.

However, all is not lost. The NeoBuds S also support AAC, SBC, and Qualcomm aptX and aptX Adaptive. The inclusion of aptX and aptX Adaptive is a boon for the NeoBuds S, as the former comes with a bitrate of 325 kbit/s, while the latter delivers an adaptive bitrate between 279 kbit/s and 420 kbit/s and transmits data more efficiently.

JBL Live Pro+

При включенном шумоподавлении заряда хватит на 7 часов, с кейсом — на 21 час. Кстати, на футляре имеется индикатор заряда, что довольно удобно для его контроля.

Wrap-Up

Do I like the EST 112? Yes, it’s pretty good. Is it my favorite? Probably not. But it does treble a bit differently than other products in this price range, and that’s a unique characteristic it has. Dunu has 3 solid units now in this price class that can compete with others. I do think that this is maybe my least favorite of the three mentioned here, but it can hold its own against others.

It is in tough competition with the Moondrop Blessing 2 and Blessing 2 Dusk, which are priced lower, but this one also brings to the table the latest driver technology and the typical Dunu package of goodies which are a step above most of its competition.

Operation

When getting started, pairing the Edifier NeoBuds S, which supports Bluetooth standard 5.2, can be done directly by opening the case. This turns the system on and automatically puts it into pairing mode. If other devices are to be paired, however, the pairing mode must be activated manually, and this seems somewhat awkward. It is done either by pressing and holding the case button while the in-ears are in the charger or via the app. Multipoint connections with two devices, such as a smartphone and tablet or laptop at the same time, are not provided. Another drawback is that the in-ears cannot be switched on and off manually via touch-sensitive surfaces; this means that the case has to be carried around all the time.

Once a wireless connection is established, a double tap on the right side controls playback in the factory settings, while the left side can be switched between ANC and ambient mode. A double tap on either side also allows you to answer a phone call. In addition, a triple tap on the right headphone is used to skip forward in track selection, while the left side can be used to activate or deactivate gaming mode. Unfortunately, the remote does not offer more control options, so there is room for improvement here, as additional functions could be implemented, for example, by holding it down. However, the assignment of controls can be adapted to one’s own needs via an app, which is a well-implemented feature. The sensitivity of the touch surfaces can also be adjusted.

Швы заметны. Упаковка внешне — красота. Амбушюры нужно менять. Заряжается бокс два с половиной часа. На боксе один диод индикации заряда. Бокса на 4 полные перезарядка хватает.

Подключение при открытии крышки. По одному ушки работают. В каждом ухе по диоду индикации. Блютус 5.0. Микрофризы бывают, но редко. Автономность 5 часов. Сенсоры приближения отрабатывают.

Вес 4.2 грамма. Функции все, включая управление громкостью. Пресетов море. Программа есть на ios и на андроид. Уши глянцевые, сборка средняя.

Для паузы есть лайф хак — поворот наушника прямо в ухе. Вызов голосового помощника через 3 тапа. Управление тапами. Задержки в играх и ютьюбе нет. Микрофоны бывают с ножкой и лучше, но и эти не плохие.

Цена очень адекватная. Звучание слегка посредственное, не впечатлило, очень сильно зависит от вашего девайса. Басов море. С айфоном и пикселем 4 играли очень хорошо.

Sound is delivered through a hybrid-designed Knowles balanced armature driver plus 10mm dynamic drivers in each bud.

Out of the box, the Edifier NeoBuds S offers two sound modes: Ambient and High Noise Cancellation. These are accessed by double tapping on the left earbud, with a voice interface then announcing which mode you’re in.  

Foundry

When in Ambient mode, the buds use the microphones to introduce a subtle amount of the background noise in your environment. This allows you to still hear station announcements, your name being called in a doctor’s surgery or when someone begins talking to you in the office. It’s a very open sound that blends your surroundings and the music to which you’re listening in a balanced way. 

Switching to the High Noise Cancellation mode introduces a far more isolated and intimate experience thanks to its -42dB capabilities. There is an immediate firming up of the lower frequencies, with the treble being reduced thanks to the omission of the background noise used in the ambient mode. This doesn’t mean you lose all the high end, as the frequency spectrum offered by the ANC is rich and representative of the original recorded content.

Basically, the NeoBuds S sound very good in either mode but if you want to block out your surroundings then the ANC does a decent job. You’ll still be able to hear close noises, but overall it should help dampen any distractions around you. 

Pairing the NeoBuds with my laptop resulted in video content that synced up nicely with the audio, aided by the Bluetooth 5.2 connection, which isn’t always the case with wireless earbuds. So, if you want to enjoy Netflix or YouTube without annoying those around you, using the NeoBuds S means you won’t have to put up with the mind-wrecking sight of lips moving and words appearing so time afterwards.

There’s also a Gaming mode available, which syncs the audio to the fast-moving action on your phone. 

Edifier Connect App

If you want to avail yourself of the full suite of audio options, then the Edifier Connect app is required. Once this is downloaded and installed on either your Android or Apple device, you’ll instantly find a range of new modes and tools that can help you personalise the sounds you get from the NeoBuds S.

Alongside the two default sound modes, there are also three more ANC options.  These are Normal mode (ANC off), Low Noise Cancellation and Wind Reduction. I’m assuming that these are limited to the app so as not to overwhelm the listener with too many modes to tap through on the buds themselves.

They all work pretty well, although with all the nice weather we’ve had recently, I didn’t get to test the Wind Reduction mode as thoroughly as I’d have liked. 

Foundry

There are also three sound profiles available in the Edifier Connect app, which are essentially EQ settings. Two are preset (Classic and Dynamic), while a third allows you to customise the settings to your preference. I found the Classic mode a little dark, with the upper-mids not too prominent, this was addressed in Dynamic which opened up the sound more.

There’s a fair amount of control available in the Customized mode, with four sliders allowing you to boost certain areas of the sound, then fine-tune them by selecting the central frequency bands. Thankfully, all results are played live as you tweak them, so you don’t need a sound engineering degree to work it all out. 

When you find a setting you’re happy with, you can save it under a specific name. This can be repeated with several configurations, meaning you can tailor your preferences for styles of music or spoken word audio, then access them with a couple of taps at a later date. 

The app also allows you to assign certain commands to the taps on the earbuds. So, if you prefer a volume control rather than skipping a track when you triple tap the right bud, you can set it up through the app. The same is true of the ANC modes, all of which can be added or removed so you end up with the ones you want to access by tapping rather than using the app every time. 

Obviously, one of the main selling points of the Edifier NeoBuds is support for the Snapdragon Sound audio platform. This combines Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive, Aqstic and other technologies to provide up to lossless 24-bit, 96kHz audio with low latency.

Foundry

As I didn’t have access to any of these devices during my test period, I wasn’t able to experience Snapdragon Sound, and that will be true for you too unless you have a certified handset. So, be sure to check the compatibility list if this particular feature is one that you’re interested in – look for the Snapdragon Sound logo when buying a phone.

Battery Life & Charging

The NeoBuds S last a healthy amount of time when removed from the case. Using various ANC settings I managed to get around 5 hours of listening time from a single charge. Edifier says that this will increase to 6 hours if you choose the Normal (non-ANC) mode instead. Either of these figures is respectable and means you should be able to finish your morning commute or gym session without needing to plug them back in again. 

If you need to do so, then 10-minutes in the case will grant you around an hour and a half’s listening time, while the best part of an hour will return them to full strength. The case itself provides around three full recharges and takes about two hours to completely replenish its cells.

Redmi Buds 3 Pro

Redmi Buds 3 Pro относятcя к бюджетному сегменту TWS-наушников, но во многом не уступают дорогим моделям. Они поддерживают управление жестами, подключаются к гаджетам по Bluetooth 5.2 и умеют работать одновременно с двумя устройствами. 

Наушники оснащены тремя микрофонами для лучшей работы шумодава и четкой передачи голоса во время звонков. ANC работает на уровне 35 дБ, то есть в метро музыку все-таки придется сделать громче, чтобы не мешали посторонние звуки. Также имеется режим прозрачности, а корпус защищен от влаги и пыли по стандарту IPX4.

Заряда наушников с включенным ANC хватит до 4 часов, а при питании от кейса ими можно пользоваться целых 18 часов. Чтобы увеличить автономность, понадобится выключить шумодав – но эта настройка есть только в мобильном приложении. А оно, в свою очередь, недоступно для международной версии гарнитуры. В прочем, это не должно стать проблемой, так как наушники достаточно быстро заряжаются: всего 10 минут хватит на 3 часа прослушивания музыки. Беспроводная зарядка тоже поддерживается.

Так как в продаже пока не так много TWS-наушников с активным шумоподавлением, мы выбирали модели из разных ценовых категорий. В таблице ниже они расположены в порядке убывания цены.

Introduction

The Edifier NeoBuds S are a new version of the Edifier NeoBuds Pro I reviewed in 2021. They add new tech including Snapdragon Sound, Bluetooth 5.2 and aptX Adaptive. But the price rises too. I reviewed the NeoBuds Pro at £100, this pair costs £150.

Price was always highly sensitive for this series. The NeoBuds Pro were mostly successful because they offered solid enough active noise cancellation, decent sound and fair battery life for under £100.

A higher price means the NeoBuds S have to compete more directly with big names from companies like Sony and Jabra. And the Edifier NeoBuds S don’t always come off that well in the comparison.

Some of the changes for this generation aren’t entirely positive either. The Edifier NeoBuds S’s shallow fit tips require re-seating fairly often, and a slight change to the sound signature that attempts to improve clarity can make for a more tiring listen with some content.

The Edifier NeoBuds S are solid true wireless earphones, but are a harder sell than the old set at £150.

Verdict

The Edifier Neobuds S are very similar in terms of design and audio quality to the Neobuds Pro. The extra cost gives you Snapdragon sound paired with aptX adaptive. They don’t sound much different to the Edifier Neobuds Pro which was the model before so this brings up the question of why spend the extra.  

There is a slight improvement when you consider the upper mids which can benefit the vocals. Unfortunately listening to podcasts is not an enjoyable experience. Other negatives include the fit of these buds the shallow fit tips will require the user to readjust them in the ear on several occasions.

Would I recommend the Neobuds S over the Neobuds Pro I would have to say NO! I felt the changes made have actually resulted in a downgrade the new tip style makes the buds less stable, the modes available with these buds just provide a further unbalance to what is a non-neutral sound. 

Last but not least with the price of the Neobuds S coming in at £179 compared to the Neobuds Pro at £129 I would save the extra money and stick with the previous model as they sound better and feel more stable in your ear.

Connectivity

As with most wireless earbuds, we’re looking at Bluetooth as the main and only connection to your digital device. These buds have the latest on board – Bluetooth version 5.2, as well as the aptX, aptX adaptive, and SBC codecs on board. You also get Snapdragon Audio which provides lossless audio and extremely clear sound.

There’s also a special low-latency Gaming Mode that uses a bit more battery power but keeps your latency to ultra-low levels, making these one of the best wireless earbuds for gaming.

The buds also set up and connect to your Bluetooth device super-quickly and stay connected up to a range of 30 feet (10m). After you have connected to a device once, the buds will remember it and connect as soon as you open the case.

Также такие конструкции обеспечивают достойный уровень шумоизоляции, что приходится очень кстати при использовании устройства на шумной улице. Как правило, хватает и пассивного шумоподавления, но существуют подобные формы с активным режимом подавления посторонних шумов. Накладные и полноразмерные наушники являются внешними типами исполнений, которые характеризуются достаточно продолжительным временем автономной работы, поскольку в конструкции таких устройств предусмотрены ёмкие встроенные аккумуляторы. Плюс ко всему, подобные модели – это полноценный акцент в Вашем образе, на рынке предусмотрен широчайший диапазон самых разных дизайнов амбушюр. Единственным различием между двумя этими форм-факторами является более удобная посадка полноразмерных вариантов, поскольку они полностью покрывают ушную раковину, предотвращая лишнее давление.

True Wireless наушники в форме вкладышей или внутриканальные наушники полностью размещаются внутри ушной раковины, обеспечивая высокий уровень комфорта при использовании. Большинство из этих моделей обладают активным режимом шумоподавления, поскольку их конструкция не способна пассивно заглушать звуки окружающей среды. Подобные исполнение характеризуется компактными габаритами и небольшим весом, что способствует снижению утомляемости даже во время длительного использования. Внутриканальные наушники имеют мягкие силиконовые амбушюры для более комфортного применения. Отличительными чертами таких моделей является возможность усиления басов и наличие режима объёмного звука, что весьма радует меломанов.
